Introduction:
We are committed to train and educate senior engineering technicians to master the basic theory and knowledge of engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, rock mechanics and structural design, who have the ability to work on the planning, designing, scientific developing, constructing and managing of civil engineering projects in house-building engineering, highways and city roads engineering, bridge engineering, tunnel and underground engineering and airfield engineering.

Research:
Because of its great strength, this discipline has been authorized to award both the master's and doctor's degrees in solid mechanics and to award the master's degree in structural engineering. Its primary researches are involved in elastic wave and its application in earthquake engineering & shock structure engineering, elastic-plastic fractural mechanics and its elastic deformation and variation method, optimum structuring and theory of construction reliability and its application, reinforced concrete structure, steel structure, structural emulation system and so on.

Most of the graduates will choose the Building Industry Head Corporation of China and construction enterprises of civil engineering, architectural designing research institute, universities and colleges, urban construction department and real estate development agency in some of the coastal cities.
